Rotary Club Of Austin Projects

Camp Enterprise

The Rotary Club of Austin is perhaps best known for Rotary Camp Enterprise. Each year one of the Club's largest committees hosts a weekend long camp for high school students to learn about free enterprise. The students hear presentations from top business professionals, play games to educate them about win-win dealings, and develop their own business plans for presentations to potential investors. College scholarships are awarded to top campers, and all participants are invited to a Rotary meeting highlighting the activities each year.

Fulmore School Sponsorship

The Rotary Club of Austin has a partnership with Fulmore Middle School. 50 books are donated to their library each year in honor of the weekly speaker at Rotary meetings. A mentor program has been established where members meet with a student once a week to offer support and friendship. Other needs are satisfied as needed such as providing physicals for participation in athletic programs, money for school supplies, and speakers for special events.

Service Austin

A one-day, multi-faceted city-wide community service project, bringing together thousands of Rotarians and community members throughout the Greater Austin area to serve their community for the benefit of disadvantaged youth.  With support from local leaders and businesses, Service Austin provides an impactful, life-changing opportunity for participants and beneficiaries, and demonstrates the commitment of Rotarians throughout the Greater Austin area to engage with those most in need.

Scholarships

The Rotary Club of Austin awarded over $30,000 in college scholarships to area students in 2007-2008. A committee responsible for collecting applications and selecting recipients works year round for a special awards presentation each Spring.

Rotary International

The Rotary Club of Austin is part of an international organization of over 1 million strong. As with all clubs we support multiple international efforts. Polio Plus, medical provisions, and foreign exchange programs, are just a few of the many projects we support.

Throughout its history, Rotary International has collaborated with the United Nations, governments, and nongovernmental organizations to improve the human condition.

The greatest example of Rotary’s effective collaborations is its flagship program, PolioPlus, which aims to eradicate polio worldwide. Working with spearheading partners UNICEF, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the World Health Organization, Rotary has contributed over US$600 million and countless volunteer hours to help immunize more than two billion children against the crippling and often fatal disease. Watch the trailer for the video The Final Inch to learn more about our polio efforts.

Cooperative efforts are also a key element of Rotary’s local service. Rotary clubs in Toronto, for example, have worked with Habitat for Humanity to build houses for deserving families in the community. Similar collaborations have helped Rotary’s 1.2 million club members promote goodwill, service, world understanding, and peace in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.
